About Spring Moon Design

A ceramic vase with yellow flowering branches on a wooden surface, with a Spring Moon Design logo in the top right corner and text at the bottom that says "Spring Moon Design."

Spring Moon Design seeks out artifacts and art pieces from near and far—either found or commissioned—whose design and color palette take their cue from nature; objects with a story that inspire wonder, evoke memories, and blur the boundaries between the interior and exterior.

Our aim is bring the joy of nature and timeless craft to your home, through singular pieces that will endure.

Given enough love,
even the trees would speak—
spring moon.

The Story Behind the Story

A young girl with dark hair in pigtails sticking out, holding a stick, in a wire mesh container, sticking out her tongue, with a yellow background.

Backyard beehives. Suburban homesteading in Southern California.

Michelle Standley, the woman behind Spring Moon Design, grew up in the desert suburbs of Los Angeles surrounded by makers and backyard naturalists: a grandfather who bred birds and built furniture, a mother who sewed clothes and arranged flowers, and a father who kept bees and tended koi. From them, she learned to sew, build, and pay attention, developing an enduring fascination with the quiet intelligence of craft and the natural world.

Her life since has carried her across continents—from Hawai‘i to Seoul, Prague to Berlin, and from New York City to the Hudson Valley—gathering stories and honing an aesthetic shaped by landscape, history, and handwork.

Today, she works between Berlin and New York as an artist, writer, and cultural historian, creating and curating objects that explore how nature, memory, and design converge.
