This cotton and kid mohair scarf is the handiwork of Celina of Celapiu, a company she founded in 2005 with her sister Maja Debowska. Based in Warsaw, the sisters had a background in theater design before turning to focusing on expressing their sense of humor and style through knit objects—from “fox stoles” to swan-necked shawls—that have a playful, tongue-in-check vibe.
I discovered their work over a decade ago, when I acquired my first “fox” and a head piece made to look like a thick braid.
When I asked Celina if she might consider creating something unique inspired by moss, she proposed first an embroidered cap and then an ultra-soft scarf composed of intricate patterns, in imitation of the many types of moss. The result was a delicate work of art. Even more beautiful than I could have imagined.
Committed to responsible fashion, Celina used locally produced woolens to make the scarf.
